Engineering Manager

Role: Engineering ManagerLocation: 100% RemoteDuration: Full time

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead at least 2 engineering teams.

Proficiency in Java, React, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, and strong API and UI (React) experience is a must. This position requires someone who is not only technically adept but also has solid experience in HR management and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Management:
• Lead high-performing teams of engineers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
• Provide mentorship, career development, and HR management for team members, ensuring growth and high engagement.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in software development practices and team dynamics.
• Support engineers in both technical and soft skill development through coaching and feedback.
• Technical Execution:
• Drive hands-on technical initiatives and architecture design decisions, especially around Java, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, APIs, and UI development.
• Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
• Ensure the successful execution of software development projects, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
• Oversee the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of APIs and UI components to meet both internal and external customer needs.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Director, or similar role,with experience in team management, mentorship, and HR-related tasks.
• Demonstrated experience in change management, leading teams through organizational and technical transitions.
• 10+ years of object-oriented development in Java, with at least 1-2 years in a management role.
• Strong technical skills with hands-on experience in Java, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, and API/UI development.

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledgeable in HealthCare Transaction processing and Clearinghouse Operations using X12 EDI.
• Proficient in RESTful Web Services, XML, JSON, SOAP, and YAML.
• Experienced with tools like Maven, Gradle, Kubernetes, Docker, virtual Box, and ELK Stack.
• Skilled in using JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Office, and Teams.
• Experience with open-source ETL tools.
• Familiarity with HIPAA/PHI/PII working environment.
