The Role: Clinical Data Engineer
As a Clinical Data Engineer, you’ll be a key technical player driving the development of AI-powered products that bring meaningful value to healthcare providers and life sciences partners. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and transform clinical data from multiple sources, design intelligent workflows, and help ensure that insights are not only accurate—but actionable.
You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to bridge clinical research, software development, and customer impact.
This is a remote position, with minimal travel.
What You'll Do
- Partner with engineering and product teams to integrate diverse data sources (EMR, claims, FHIR, OMOP, etc.).
- Conduct deep clinical research to understand disease pathways, workflows, and decision points.
- Maintain and evolve medical coding mappings (ICD-10, LOINC, NDC, CPT).
- Validate and troubleshoot clinical data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and clinical relevance.
- Perform disease-specific analyses using EMR data across multiple health systems.
- Coordinate data needs across teams to align product goals and customer use cases.
- Leverage tools and languages like SQL, Python, Go, and PySpark to support data engineering efforts.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 4+ years of experience in software development or data engineering, ideally in a healthcare context.
- Expertise in cloud environments—GCP preferred, AWS or Azure also great.
- Solid knowledge of clinical data structures, EMR systems, and healthcare terminologies.
- Familiarity with data transformation frameworks and models (FHIR, OMOP).
- Ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders with clear, concise communication.
- Passion for improving healthcare delivery through technology and data.
